TIM Tools and Private Schools

by Roy Winkelman

The version 6.0 release of TIM Tools introduced new flexibility for creating and defining roles within the system. While this may be somewhat more important to large school systems, it also has practical application to individual schools as well.

We often notice that private schools have many specialized roles—particularly when it comes to research and measurement. The newest version of TIM Tools now allows for complete customization of administrative roles within a school instance. Any of the default roles for schools can be duplicated and given a name more suitable for your situation. You can then tweak the permissions for that role to your needs. One role can be responsible for updating member status only. Another role can have access to all of the TUPS or TIM-O data in the system. You might want to give department heads permission to conduct observations or review lesson plans.

If you would like to know more about how TIM Tools can be used within your school or school system, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We would be happy to explain how TIM Tools can help to make more effective use of the technology investments you have made or plan to make. You may also wish to skim the TIM Tools Administration Guide to learn about additional features of this evaluation suite.
